Simple instructions for opening your downloaded Windows game and getting help with setup.
Opening your game on Windows
Our downloadable Windows games are not digitally signed. Windows may show “Windows protected your PC” or “Unknown publisher” when you open a downloaded game. This is a SmartScreen reputation warning; it does not, by itself, identify malware.
- Download the game using the official Ultimate Party Nights download link supplied with your purchase.
- If the download is a ZIP file, right-click it, choose Extract All, then open the extracted folder. Keep the supplied files together.
- Open the game’s .exe file. If SmartScreen appears, check that this is the game you downloaded from us and that you trust the source, then select More info followed by Run anyway.
- Follow the game’s setup instructions and enter your licence key if required.
Keep Windows security and your antivirus switched on. You do not need to disable them or add antivirus exclusions to follow these steps.
If there is no “Run anyway” button
Windows security settings or an organisation’s device policy may prevent the game from opening. Contact us, or your device administrator if it is a work laptop, rather than changing security settings.
If your antivirus reports a threat
A named threat, malware detection or quarantined file is different from the SmartScreen message above. Stop and contact us before running the file. Do not restore quarantined files or bypass a threat alert using these instructions.
Before your event
Check the individual game’s Windows and hardware requirements before purchase. Download, set up and test your game on the laptop you will use before the event. These instructions are for downloadable Windows games, not the smartphone app used by quiz teams.
Need help? Email hello@ultimatepartynights.com with the game name, version, Windows version and a screenshot of the message. Keep licence keys and payment details out of screenshots.
